Phillip Island is a little under a two hour drive from Melbourne on the. It includes the towns of Newhaven, Rhyll and Cowes with San Remo being the last town on the Mainland.
San Remo is reknowned for its fishing co-op and for lovers of lobster this will be a must along the way. Just before lunch the pelicans descend for their daily feed.
Newhaven is the first town on the island offering one of the most popular surf beaches in the state. If you are not into surf try fishing off the pier or a visit to Churchill Island .
Cowes is the main destination for relaxing cafes and upmarket restaurants. From here you can take a wildlife cruise to Seal Rocks to catch the seals in their natural habitat. You can also head to Summerland Beach to view the return of hundreds of penguins returning to their burrows at the Peguin Parade.
If you want to view koalas close up (and who doesn't) head to Rhyll and visit the Koala Conservation Centre and Woodland .
Oh! It's the home of the motor cycle racing at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit including the World Superbike Championship in April and The Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix in October. November is the action of the V8 Supercars.
